Blacklist

A blacklist is a list maintained by one or more organizations containing mail servers that are actually or allegedly used to send spam. E-mails from blacklisted servers are regularly deleted or blocked by spam filter and ISPs.

ISPs

Internet service providers (ISPs) are companies that provide their customers with internet services such as web space and mail servers. The best known ISPs include AOL, AT&T, MSN and so on.

ISP delivery tracking

This is a service that enables you to determine whether your e-mails are being blocked by the major ISPs and Webmail providers. The results of this monitoring process indicate the likelihood that your e-mails will be delivered to their target mailboxes or will be classified as spam or blocked.

Mail server

A server that is used to send e-mail campaigns.

Return path domain

A return path domain is a mail server e-mail address that appears in the header of your e-mailings. Bounced e-mails (e-mails that are undeliverable or blocked) are sent to this address.

Seed list

A list of test e-mail addresses. Delivery Watch maintains a number of test addresses with all key ISPs. You add the seed list to your recipients list and send the mass e-mailing whose deliverability you wish to monitor to the seed list addresses.  Under ISP Delivery Tracking you can view the results of the test, which indicate the probable delivery rate for your envisaged e-mailing.

Spam filter

Software used by ISPs and e-mail users to detect and delete spam. These programs are also designed to protect computers against viruses and worms.

SPF compliance

A monitoring service that determines whether the return path or paths of your sender domain comply with the Sender Policy Framework (SPF).

SPF enables the filtering of e-mails that are not legitimized by a mail server entry and are therefore probably spam.
