Why does Delivery Watch monitor blacklists?
Blacklists are established by various public organizations in order to combat spam. The lists contain the names of mail server IPs and domains that are suspected of being conduits for spam. If your mail server ends up on one or more of these lists for some reason, it is very likely that most of your campaign e-mails will not reach their destinations. Delivery Watch runs an hourly check of all key blacklists to determine whether any IP addresses or domains of Delivery Watch customers are listed. If this turns out to be the case, the customer affected is notified via an e-mail. The reason for the listing is indicated in the application. Please note, however, that the number of IP addresses and domains monitored varies according to the version of Delivery Watch you selected.
Defining monitored IP addresses and domains automatically
There are two ways to define IP addresses and domains that you wish to monitor. The easiest way is to initiate an auto-configuration procedure. To do this, you simply send an e-mail from the e-mail environment from which you normally send your e-mail campaigns, to the e-mail address indicated on the upper right hand side of the Monitoring Tools configuration page.
Defining monitored IP addresses and domains manually
You can of course also enter all of your mail server’s IP addresses and domains manually.
Detection mechanism for non-monitored IP addresses and domains
If, while tracking your campaigns using the seed list, Delivery Watch identifies a mail server whose IP address or domain is not on your list of monitored IP addresses and domains, the program automatically notifies you of this fact. To monitor such a server, simply assign a name to it and click Add.
Note: If, upon receipt of an alert drawing your attention to a non-monitored IP address or domain, you click Ignore, you will not receive any more alerts regarding this particular address. To monitor such an address at some point in the future, you will have to add it to the list manually.
The Delivery Watch setup procedure is now complete, and you can begin using the application.
